Race Day 101: Get the Scoop on the Best Race In Denver

Join us for the Platte River Half Marathon & Relay race near Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton! This annual event takes place along the Platte River Trail and is capped at 2,900 half-marathoners and 100 relay teams. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, and deferrals are not allowed. With a beautiful course and exciting atmosphere, this is one race you don’t want to miss. Race Week Packet Pick-Up & Registration

Are you ready for race week? Don’t forget to pick up your race packet!

Early packet pick-up and registration starts on Saturday, April 13th, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Runners Roost at 1685 South Colorado Boulevard, Denver, CO 80222.

We highly recommend picking up your packet early (Race Day Packet Pickup makes for a very early morning for racers!),

  • Remember to bring your ID and QR code from our registration provider.
  • You may pick up someone else’s packet with a copy of that person’s ID and QR code as well.
  • One member of a relay team can pick up everyone’s packet, so coordinate with your teammates.

Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup

Race day packet pickup and registration is from 5:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. at the Reynold’s Landing trailhead parking lot near the starting line to pick up your race packet.

  • Remember to bring your ID and QR code from our registration provider.
  • One member of a relay team can pick up everyone’s packet.

Race Day Parking

Primary Parking

The main parking area is at the Breckenridge Brewery parking lot at 2920 Brewery Lane, Littleton, Colorado, 80120. Check out our primary parking area map for runners, volunteers, and vendors.

Overflow Parking

Overflow parking is available south of the start at the Aspen Grove Shopping Center at 7301 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, CO 80120.

Find additional overflow parking at the Mineral Light Rail Station park-n-ride parking lot at Santa Fe Drive and Mineral Avenue. It’s less than a mile walk along the Platte River Trail, but note that there is no pedestrian access on Santa Fe Drive. Check our overflow and spectator parking map for more details.

Starting Line Logistics

Get ready to race! The starting line will be in the Reynold’s Landing trailhead parking lot near Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton.

The race starts promptly at 7:00 a.m., so please arrive early and allow plenty of time to stretch, get warmed up, and line up with your fellow runners.

Additional Information:

Leg one of the relay begins at the same time as the half marathon’s first wave.

Competitive runners, plan accordingly at the start line.

Solo racers, please line up with your expected finish time:

  • Wave #1: Under 1:50:00
  • Wave #2: 1:50:00 to 2:01:59
  • Wave #3: 2:02:00 to 2:13:59
  • Wave #4: 2:14:00 to 2:31:59
  • Wave #5: Over 2:32:00

Runners are expected to complete the race under 3:15:00

Baggage Tent Info:

The baggage tent is near the start in the Reynolds Parking Lot. Please attach the bottom of your bib to the tag. Bags can be picked up after the race.

Half-Marathon Course

Relay Course

Are you participating in the relay race? Here’s what you need to know:

  • The relay will consist of three legs of roughly 4.0 miles, 5.1 miles, and 4.0 miles.
  • The relay exchange zone will be at approximately mile 4.0 and 9.1.
  • The first and second relay exchange points are located along the trailhead parking lot on the west side of the Platte River across from Broken Tee Golf Course. The address is 2101 W. Oxford Ave, Sheridan, CO 80110
  • There will be a timing mat, aid station, and portable toilets at the exchange point.
  • Each runner coming into the exchange zone will wear a belt with a timing tag and must cross the timing mat before handing the belt off to the next runner.
  • Relay teams are responsible for their own transportation to and from the starting line and exchange points.
  • Overflow parking is in the golf course parking lot on the east side of the river.
  • Only Runner #3 should cross the finish line. Runner #3 will be given the medals for the entire team.
  • Teams are expected to finish the race in under 3:15.

Additional Course Information

Here is some additional information to keep in mind during the half-marathon and relay race:

  • Each mile will be marked, courtesy of our mile marker sponsors, and split times will be the responsibility of each runner.
  • For safety reasons, running with dogs and baby joggers/strollers during the race is not permitted.
  • The Platte River Trail is a multi-use trail and will be open to other exercise enthusiasts during the race, so please be respectful of their use of the trail.
  • Finish line support will close at 10:30 a.m. with a pace of 13:45/mile.

Aid Stations

Stay hydrated and fueled up with our aid stations! There will be a total of five aid stations providing water and Gatorade to keep you hydrated. The mile 6.55 aid station will also have Honey Stinger Energy Gels and Chews. Portable toilets will be at or near each aid station. We’ll also have medical support on hand in case of any emergencies.

Check out the approximate locations for each aid station:

  • Aid Station 1: ~ Mile 2.2 as runners get ready to go under Belleview Ave.
  • Aid Station 2: ~ Mile 4.0 at the relay exchange point on the west side of the river
  • Aid Station 3: ~ Mile 6.55 just south of Bowles Ave. as runners turn around to head back to the finish line
  • Aid Station 4: ~ Mile 9.1 is the same aid station as #2
  • Aid Station 5: ~ Mile 10.9 is the same aid station as #1

If you’re unable to finish the race, continue to the next aid station. If you are seriously injured, 9-1-1 will be called. If not, an aid station volunteer will take you to the finish area after the last runner comes through that aid station.

Cupless Racing With HydraPak Speed Cups

We’re thrilled to announce our new cupless race system! Each runner will receive a complimentary HydraPak Speed Cup during packet pickup.

These collapsible and reusable cups can be clipped, carried, and stashed during the race, and kept for future adventures!

This initiative will save thousands of paper cups from ending up in the landfill or the South Platte River.

Spectators Are Welcome!

Bring your cheering squad! Spectators can watch from various points along the Platte River Trail or join the excitement at the start/finish line.

Spectator parking is available at Aspen Grove Shopping Center or the Mineral Light Rail Station parking lot. Then, walk along the Platte River Trail to the start/finish area.

Post-Race Party

Race day doesn’t end at the finish line! Join us for the epic post-race party at The Farm House at Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton. The party kicks off right after the race ends where participants and volunteers can enjoy free craft beer and lunch.

Food and beer will be available for purchase for your friends and family. Stick around to celebrate your achievement with live music, games, and great company!

Awards Ceremony

We’re excited to announce that we will be giving out various awards for our participants!

  • We’ll kick off the post-race party with an awards ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at Breckenridge Brewery.
  • Overall awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in both the Open and Masters categories.
  • Age group and relay awards will be mailed to the winners.
  • Open overall awards will be based on gun time, while overall Masters awards and Age Group awards will be based on chip time.
  • Age group awards in the half marathon will be presented to the top three finishers in the following age categories: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
  • Relay awards will be presented to the top three male, female, and co-ed teams.
  • All finishers receive this year’s medal!
  • All other awards will be mailed the week following the race.
